Jacksonville city is located in Calhoun County in Northeast Alabama. It has a significant location, being about half-way between Birmingham, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. Jacksonville lies on the foothills of the Choccolocco Range and the Mountains provide great natural beauty. Formerly called Drayton, the city was renamed to honor President Andrew Jackson in 1834. The closest major airport is Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport that has domestic flights from Birmingham and is about 60 miles from the center of Jacksonville, AL.
