  • The Museum at Russell Cave National Monument

The Museum at Russell Cave National Monument in Alabama features an informative visitor center museum with exhibits tell the story of the Native Americans that lived in this limestone cave with the materials they left behind. Exhibits at this facinating National Park attraction include the Archaic man exhibit, the Woodland man exhibit and the Mississipian man exhibit.

Most of the artifacts found in Russell Cave are on display at the visitor center museum. Depending on the National Monument staff’s availability historic demonstrations are given upon request, allowing visitors to learn more about the original inhabitants weapons and tools, as well as food preparation methods and cooking techniques, all dating from the Archaic period. The Indian garden features plants likely grown by cave inhabitants during the growing season. The Russell Cave National Monument's Indian Day Festival is held annually, on the 3rd Saturday of every April.
